Wow, I just read about this via Gaf, this is a colossal dick move by someone at Epic, I thought diplomacy was the real way to solve a dispute, not abuse of power.
If there's an issue between EpicJons map and one that's being created by Epic for 360, fine, sit down and talk about it, I'm sure EpicJon is a reasonable person, don't just try to sweep the issue under the carpet by banning the guy and hoping nobody notices. Bad form, severe bad form. |

Holy crap! This is a complete reversal of Epic's respect for community members. Epic won't even let people port PC maps to PS3 without authors' permission, and now Epic goes and SELLS community member maps WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION!

yea, i agree that a statement from a mod would be better then banning him instantly, but it was really not a surprise since he accused epic stealing his map-layout, that was not really clever.
i played the map, looked back to the videos and have to disagree that its the same layout... the only commonality is that its a ship at the artic sea... the meshes used on this map are the only ship-meshes available in this game, so it doesnt mean anythink that both maps have the same... same thing for the driverscap building at the backboard, it is the only one available in this game.

Someone in the thread that got deleted had said that the map in the 360 video looked like an old UT99 map called Koosbarge. Well I was going to post a link confirming it. Then it said the thread was not there. I guess he should have waited for a reply before making a thread accusing Epic of being thieves.

This is pretty low, someone from epic should've explained the situation, the map obviously looks similar to his ArcticShipment map.

So what if KoosBarge doesn't look like KGalleon? Maybe it's meant to have the same feel to the gameplay rather than the look of the level.
